Information Technology Management
The Anoka Technical College Information Technology associate in applied science (AAS) degree is a 72-credit program designed to prepare graduates to successfully compete for high-paying, rewarding careers in IT fields with the highest demand, both today and in the future.
The program requirements were determined through consultation with employers, those working in the industry, technical training professionals, and those currently seeking training and retraining for IT careers.
Anoka Tech's IT curriculum offers more than 90 courses in the following career concentration areas:
Graduates are encouraged to take advantage of corporate recruitment and IT recruiting firms. Internships and work study positions are also available. IT graduates are highly employable; in many cases even before graduation.
The unique IT program at Anoka Technical College allows technical specialization in one concentration, while the common core courses (listed below under Core) and required electives build the broad IT foundation needed to understand the terminology and methodologies of other IT specialties in the workplace.
Health care, transportation and warehousing, public administration and education industries all posted double-digit increases in IT hiring between 2007 and 2012, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Minnesota projects that computer worker hires in the state will grow twice as fast by 2020.
