Summer Programs

New this year, Anoka Technical College is offering a variety of summer programming for students in grades 7-12 and college students and adult learners.

Programs are offered during June and July and conclude in August.

Scrubs Camp

Open to those who will be in grades 9 - 12 by fall 2019.

Come learn all about health care careers at one of Minnesota's most immersive summer camp experiences.

Taught at Anoka Technical College, Scrubs Camp explores different careers in health care through hands-on activities led by college faculty and health care professionals working in the field.

Dates: June 17 - 19, 2019

Summer Bridge Boot Camp

Is your ACCUPLACER score below what is required for your intended major?

The FREE Summer Bridge courses are designed for you! 
These four-week courses offer skill-building alternatives to taking developmental courses.

If you’re pursing a degree at Anoka Technical College, and your ACCUPLACER score did not meet the requirement, 
ask about how you may qualify for the Summer Bridge courses to help you get on track to earning your degree.

Dates: June 10 - July 3, 2019

Cost: Free for qualifying students

Summer Scholars Academy

The Summer Scholars Academy is designed to help you be successful in college-level courses in the fall and to ease your transition to college. Whether you are an entering college freshman who recently graduated from high school or a student returning to school after time away, this program is designed to be a free* alternative to developmental education courses, saving you time and money. Summer Scholars Academy will help ease the transition to college life by providing you opportunity to build your confidence as a scholar while networking with fellow students and Anoka Technical College staff and faculty.

Why should you participate?

Develop Learning Strategies and Study Skills: Program activities are focused on building skills in reading, writing, and math. This work will not only help become a stronger student, but can help you focus on the road ahead, which may save you time and money. 
 
Meet Fellow Students: The Summer Scholars Academy is ideal for getting to know peers who can support you during the program and beyond. The program is only open to a limited number of students, providing ample opportunity for you to get to know those participating as you work, learn, think, and have fun together.  
 
Plan for Your Future: In addition to preparing you for the near future as you get ready to start college in the fall, the Summer Scholars Academy is a chance to think and dream even bigger. Anoka Technical College staff can assist you in considering your academic and career goals and help map out the best path to achieving them. 
 
Explore What Anoka Technical College Has to Offer: Anoka Technical College is bursting with resources that are at your disposal and can help you succeed in college and beyond. Through Summer Scholars Academy, you have an opportunity to learn about resources and services for students such as tutoring, the Writing Center, workshops, campus events, and more.   
 
Get a Return On Your Investment: Students like you who meet all the program requirements will earn a $150 stipend upon successful completion of the Summer Scholars Academy.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Incoming new students who have been accepted to Anoka Technical College
  • Students who are returning to school after at least one year of not attending a MinnState college/university
  • Accuplacer score(s) in the following range:
    • Reading: 40-77
      • Reading score is also used to determine Writing/English placement.
    • Math (Arithmetic): 30-70
      •  Students applying to programs with specific admissions criteria must also meet those requirements
