Tutoring Services

All students attending Anoka Technical College are welcome to take advantage of our free tutoring services, which include Peer Tutoring and 24/7 online access to Tutor.com in D2L.

Peer Tutoring 

Due to COVID-19, Anoka Technical College's Peer Tutors have moved online and are available to help students remotely.

Remote Peer Tutoring Services Currently Offered:

  • Scheduled Virtual Appointments
    • Schedule a video chat appointment with a peer tutor for a later date (same day appointments are not available). 
    • After booking your tutoring session, you will receive a confirmation email from 'Peer Tutoring' with instructions on how to join the meeting at the scheduled time via Microsoft Teams 
    • View available subjects, tutors, dates, and book your appointment HERE 
  • Virtual Drop-in Meetings
    • For immediate video chat tutoring sessions via Zoom

  • Paper/Essay Review
    • Use this online form to submit your work to a writing tutor
    • Please allow 1-3 business days for your review (Need quicker turn-around? Try Tutor.com- see below for more information).

Tutor.com

Anoka Technical College students can access Tutor.com through their D2L account.  Tutor.com is a free, 24/7 online tutoring service.  All students receive 15 hours of free Tutor.com access each year.  

  • You can access Tutor.com services through any course's homepage in D2L 
  • Tutor.com services include live assistance with a wide variety of course subjects and same-day paper/essay reviews (turn-around is typically 4 hours).

Tips for joining a Virtual Drop-in Meeting via Zoom

  • First, review the Virtual Drop-in Meeting Schedule for available tutors.  
  • Once you choose a tutor that is available at your current day and time, copy or note their 'Zoom ID' number 
  • Sign into your Zoom account with your StarID and password at https://minnstate.zoom.us 
  • Select the 'Join a Meeting' option and enter the 'Zoom ID' of the tutor you have chosen
  • Enter the passcode Tutoring20 to join the meeting

Who are the peer tutors?

Peer tutors are fellow students enrolled in the program they tutor in. Tutors have successfully passed the courses that they provide assistance with and have been recommended by their faculty.

How can I become a peer tutor?

Contact Lucas Erie, Peer Tutoring Coordinator, to apply for a tutoring position.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Have completed at least one semester at the college
  • Be taking 6 or more credits
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have a faculty recommendation
