Hometown: Simsbury, Connecticut
Educational Background: I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Asian Studies from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. I later went back to school in Kyoto, Japan to study the Japanese language intensively.
Best Adventure: I lived in Japan for three years after college. While there, I did a solo backpacking trip to a holy mountain in southern Honshu and camped in the ruins of a 9th century temple.
Favorite aspect of Anoka Technical College: The staff. We are lucky to have great people at Anoka Tech that go above and beyond to help our students!
Advice I would give to students who are applying to Anoka Technical College: Ask for help if you need it. The faculty and staff are here to help you reach your goals, but we can’t help unless you ask for it!

Hometown: Blaine, Minnesota
Educational Background: I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and minored in Family Services & Communications at UW-River Falls. I worked in AmeriCorps working with students before deciding to pursue additional education. I now hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology-School Counseling from St. Cloud State University.
Best Adventure: Traveling to France—I was lucky enough to be in Paris during Fête de la Musique, a city-wide music festival. Amateurs and professionals (even famous musicians!) were found on every street corner, balcony, and landmark performing. Food vendors were tucked in every nook and cranny, people were dancing and singing throughout the day and night. It was truly a vibrant, remarkable experience!
Favorite aspect of Anoka Technical College: The tight-knit community of staff and faculty has really allowed for a family experience—you are known here, and people care about each other’s success.
Advice I would give to students who are applying to Anoka Technical College: By walking through these halls, you are taking the first step to opening the first of many doors. It’s okay not to know where your path will always take you—just keep asking questions, and be open to new experiences!

Hometown: I grew up in Northfield, MN - 45 minutes south of Minneapolis.
Educational Background: I graduated from The University of St Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
Best Adventure: Camping in the middle of the ocean with my husband at Dry Tortugas National Park—located on an island 70 miles west of Key West, FL. Once the ferry leaves for the day, you are “stranded” with the other campers and a ranger, with no amenities or cell service. Originally built as a civil war fort (never used as a fort) to protect America on the southern coastline, the Fort Jefferson National Monument takes up the majority of the island where you are able to walk around the octagonal-shaped structure on the moat wall or the building itself. Now a National Park with a handful of campsites and great snorkeling opportunities in the clear, turquoise waters. The stars overnight were incredible, like nothing I’ve ever seen.
Favorite aspect of Anoka Technical College: The staff and faculty really care about helping our students. It’s a great feeling to be part of a community that cares about every student’s success.
Advice I would give to students who are applying to Anoka Technical College: Follow your dreams! Anoka Tech has great programs and opportunities, whether you are exploring a new career path or just beginning one.

Educational Background: I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mass Communication–Advertising and a minor in Geography–Travel and Tourism. While in college, I completed an internship with Walt Disney World and experienced what it was like to see Disney from an insider’s perspective. It was a fun and memorable experience.
Best Adventure: I took part in a study abroad program while at St. Cloud State and studied in Northern England for six months while in college. I lived in a 12th century castle and traveled extensively throughout Great Britain, Ireland and Europe. It was an experience of a lifetime!
