Anoka-Hennepin Technical High School holds grand opening at new Anoka Technical College site
More than 60 people attended the grand opening of Anoka-Hennepin Technical High School (AHTHS) new location at the Anoka Technical College Nov. 2.
“The grand opening event for Anoka Hennepin Technical High School went beyond what we had hoped for in attendance from community members, stakeholders and of course our students and parents,” said Nancy Chave, AHTHS Principal.
During the event, students recounted their life experiences that led them away from high school initially, and how individual attention, small class sizes and flexible scheduling led them to AHTHS.
The technical high school provides 18- to 21-year old students the opportunity to complete their high school diploma. The focus of the curriculum is college and career readiness, and gives students direct access to these opportunities being co-located on the Anoka Technical College campus.
“Our students are experiencing what is possible for their postsecondary future everyday they walk in the door,” Chave continued. “We could never have imagined the success we are experiencing in just the first few weeks and we know it will only continue to grow. Our initial projection was for 100 students and we are now at 140 and counting.”
