Anoka Technical College welcomes new Dean of Academic Affairs, Dina Humble.
Humble brings an extensive career in education to the position; her career spans over 18 years and includes 13 years as a faculty member and five years as an academic administrator.
Most recently, Humble served as the dean of social sciences and arts at Long Beach City College in California, where she led the departments of Social Sciences, History and Political Science, Business Administration and Economics, Performing Arts and Visual and Media Arts. On campus, she was active on numerous committees including the College Planning Committee, Budget Advisory Council, Innovation, Accreditation, Curriculum, Strong Workforce Initiative and Hiring Process Committee. She also served on the district negotiation team for the faculty contract for three years.
Prior to Long Beach, Humble served at Norco College in California as a department chair where she contributed to two multi-million dollar Title V grants and developed innovative curriculum in the areas of commercial music and game development. Additionally, she was the inaugural curriculum committee chair and district curriculum committee chair. She was instrumental in the writing of a curriculum process to transition from a three-campus district to a three-college district.
Before she entered college administration, Humble worked as a vocal music educator. Her efforts resulted in several college recordings, with one being recognized on the Grammy nomination ballot in 2007. She traveled the world with her college students spending time in South Africa, Japan, New York, Florida and more.
While serving California community colleges, Humble also co-chaired the Mentor Program for the Association for California Community College Administrators (ACCCA).
“I was attracted to Anoka Tech because of its quality career and technical programs,” said Humble. “The entire Anoka Tech family is committed and dedicated to helping each and every student achieve success.”
