Hometown: I grew up in Lisle, Illinois, about 30 minutes southwest of Chicago.
Education Background: I graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with a Bachelor’s in English and went on to earn my Master’s in postsecondary education: student affairs at University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Best Adventure: The summer before my senior year of undergrad, I participated in an archeological field school in Ancient Corinth, Greece. I spent five days a week for six weeks up to my elbows in dirt as I helped excavate the site of the first port of Ancient Corinth. This was completely outside my wheelhouse, and I learned so much about topography, how to safely excavate artifacts and how our understanding of history could change based on what we found while digging. Truly a once in a lifetime experience!
Favorite aspect of Anoka Technical College: I love that our programs are so hands-on and that students get to immediately apply what they learn in the classroom in our labs. Our students are well prepared to take on the real world when they leave ATC and they leave feeling confident that they have the skills to succeed in their field.
Advice I would give to students who are applying to Anoka Technical College: Have an open mind! Maybe you know exactly what you want to do, or maybe you are not so sure yet. Either way, it’s worth it to explore and learn about all our programs to make sure you choose the one that’s right for you and that will be fulfilling and help you reach your long-term goals.

Hometown: I grew up in Northfield, MN - 45 minutes south of Minneapolis.
Educational Background: I graduated from The University of St Thomas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
Best Adventure: Camping in the middle of the ocean with my husband at Dry Tortugas National Park—located on an island 70 miles west of Key West, FL. Once the ferry leaves for the day, you are “stranded” with the other campers and a ranger, with no amenities or cell service. Originally built as a civil war fort (never used as a fort) to protect America on the southern coastline, the Fort Jefferson National Monument takes up the majority of the island where you are able to walk around the octagonal-shaped structure on the moat wall or the building itself. Now a National Park with a handful of campsites and great snorkeling opportunities in the clear, turquoise waters. The stars overnight were incredible, like nothing I’ve ever seen.
Favorite aspect of Anoka Technical College: The staff and faculty really care about helping our students. It’s a great feeling to be part of a community that cares about every student’s success.
Advice I would give to students who are applying to Anoka Technical College: Follow your dreams! Anoka Tech has great programs and opportunities, whether you are exploring a new career path or just beginning one.

Hometown: I grew up in Maple Grove and attended Osseo Senior High School – I was the Mascot at the football games. Go Orioles!
Educational Background: I graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mass Communication and a minor in Graphic Design. While in college, I studied abroad in England for six months, traveled across Europe and the UK, and visited 18 countries. This experience taught me the value in stepping outside your comfort zone; you never know what you might find there.
Best Adventure: Reluctantly trying my first yoga class in 2016 – I walked in fully convinced I was going to hate it, and unrolled my mat with an admittingly-presumptuous mini-smirk. Little did I know, that class would prove to be the most powerful, pivotal 60 minutes of my life. In 2019, I completed my 200 hr. Yoga Teacher Training in effort to enhance personal growth. Yoga is many wonderful things for me, including my “best adventure.”
Favorite aspect of Anoka Technical College: I love that we offer over 70 program opportunities to get a remarkable, affordable, skill-based education that prepares you for a seamless transition from Student to Professional.
Advice I would give to students who are applying to Anoka Technical College: Celebrate your decision to begin this thrilling journey! Applying is the first step toward the realization of your dreams and aspirations. And, remember that we are all here to support you along the way toward graduation.
