Counseling Services

Counseling Services will be provided remotely to support students. 
Counselors Erica Stene Winkler and Kevin Lindstrom are available to support you in defining and achieving your academic, career and personal goals. You are encouraged to connect with a counselor to discuss and develop an individualized plan to promote personal and academic success. Services are available to help students in the following areas:

Personal Counseling

Counseling services are available to provide students with short-term support for a variety of concerns. Such concerns may include, but are not limited to personal crises, mental health concerns, increased stress or anxiety, drug or alcohol abuse, financial pressures, grief, relationship concerns and overall life transitions. In addition, referrals to professional agencies and resources to services in the community are provided when necessary.

Crisis Counseling

In the case of an emergency, call 911.

Anoka County Mobile Crisis Response:  Call 763-755-3801 if you or someone close to you is having a mental health crisis. The Anoka County Mobile Crisis Response team will help you. The line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and the call is free. The Crisis Response line is for both adults and children.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline:  Call 800-273-TALK (8255) to be connected to a skilled, trained counselor at a crisis center in your area, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

Crisis Text Line  Text MN to 741741 for free support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

Veterans Crisis Line:  Veterans and their loved ones can call 800-273-8255 and press 1, or send a text message to 838255 to receive confidential support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Academic Counseling

Academic counseling offers students the opportunity to explore strengths and weaknesses associated with academic achievement. Students can meet with the Counselor to discuss and receive feedback related to issues that may impact academic achievement. These issues may include, but are not limited to, test anxiety, communication, time-management, study skills and note-taking skills.

Career Counseling

Choosing a proper program of study is crucial for success in college.  Students can meet with the Counselor for support in the process of developing career goals by exploring personal skills, interests, personality traits and values. Career counseling can help a student to match these characteristics with occupational and educational opportunities.
