LGBTQIA Services

LGBTQIA is an acronym that stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual/Aromantic. Some people change the order of the letters in the acronym, some people only use some of the letters, and some people have differing opinions about which letters should be included. For more information on these terms, please check out our Terminology Resource.

As outlined in the college's Vision Statement, Anoka Technical College embraces diversity within and beyond the college and responds to the needs of its local community, nation and world.

Community Resources

Anoka Technical College Counseling Services provides career, academic and personal counseling, including short-term support for sexual orientation and gender identity concerns.

Our counselors respect and affirm LGBTQIA students, are committed to student success and can offer recommendations and referrals for LGBTQIA-friendly mental health support services.

A green dot is respecting all genders. A green dot is writing a paper about speaking out against homophobia. A green dot is telling an asexual friend that you support her. A green dot is asking how to be a good ally to the LGBTQIA people in your life. Green Dot: No one has to do everything. Everyone has to do something
